Numerous people in Thailand, Cambodia and Indonesia suffer from domestic violence, sexual abuse, military conflicts or natural disasters. It is mostly women and children whoare affected. For these people, TraumaAid trained trauma therapists.
The main objective of the project was to establish a training program for therapists in the Mekong region. They in turn should be able to treat traumatic disturbances in patients by using primarily but not solely the EMDR method. The training and therapies complied with international standards for the treatment of trauma patients and were also embedded in local health programs.
The Mekong Project ended in June 2014. During three years 39 therapists and 15 supervisors had been trained, additionally three acknowledged EMDR trainers – amongst them one recognized Child EMDR trainer.
